How I Struggled To Get Into Shape

From the days of my youth I was a big kid. I did not spend a lot of time playing outdoors with my friends. I was very content if I was sitting on the couch and not doing much of anything. There was no trouble determining the reasons why I was so fat. My lifestyle was designed to help my body grow in the wrong way.

Growing up, my weight issues remained the same. I grew to be what most people would call obese. I had to have extra support to do my desk job that I had. My friends would put out a special chair for me so I would not break their regular chairs. I was fat because of the way that I ate and the lack of exercise, and I did nothing to fix it.

Eventually I realized that my life as I was living it had to change. Being obese was stopping me from living. I had no social life, but most importantly my weight kept me from finding someone special to share my life with so I decided to do something about it and to do it in a hurry, so I ordered one of those programs that promised to show me how to lose weight fast at home in a week and vowed that doing this simple step would cure all that was ailing me in a hurry.

I knew that I was not going to find a way to get rid of the fat while I slept. It failed miserable and I ended up bigger than when I started. I was also very discouraged, but I knew I had to try something to find out how to lose weight fast or at least something that would get me headed in the right direction if I was ever going to find happiness in my life and if I was going to keep myself from dying at too young of an age.

It was not too difficult o get the information about how I should be eating. I went online and was able to find out what kind of diets I could follow to help me lose the weight. I was able to develop a healthy diet rather quickly. I started to weigh my food and ate foods that were better for me. Getting the nutritional information was a simple process. But there was something else I found in my research. To lose weight a person must expend more calories than they take in. That required me to do some type of work out. The issue was whether I could actually do any exercise with the way my body was.

I knew that because of the shape that I was in that I would be limited in how I could work out. It seemed like any type of exercise was going to be too difficult for me to do. I also knew that I could not lose weight through diet alone and had to work out in some way. I knew that I had to find some way to exercise. And I did find a way.

I started walking around the block after dinner. It did not seem like much at first, but it was difficult. Eventually I noticed that my walks were getting longer and longer. I started carrying hand weights during my walks. Slowly, I started to lose weight. At some point I was able to start jogging. My body continued to get smaller. I was doing good.

Two weeks ago I ran my first half marathon. Even though I was not the fastest, I was a finisher. It is hard to believe that a year before, I could barely walk around the block. Somewhere along the line I learned that I was not too fat to exercise.

Choosing How To Lose Weight

It is not hard for a person to figure out if they are overweight. It could be time to get into shape if the scale does not go high enough for you. But what is the best way to fix the problem? It is worth the effort that is required to look at the different plans and find one that looks like it is safe and effective. A person needs to do their homework before they choose a plan.

Late night television is full of companies that will show a person how to lose weight fast if that is what they want, or there are diets available that will help a person not only lose weight, but also help them deal with other health issues, or a person can opt for some exercise equipment that will help them shape their body, but in the end a person must make a choice based on their lifestyle and not what someone else says is right for them. In order to find the right regimen a person should understand several points about weight loss.

1. Consider how overweight you really are. Every body has a different body shape and how much an individual should weigh is also different. It also depends on height, age and the sex of an individual. Some people might not need to lose a lot to get to a healthy weight and should base their plan on that.

2. Think about your schedule. Every body has things going on in their life. It is not always easy to commit to a regimen that does not fit into your schedule. Understand how the demands on your life will affect your ability to diet and exercise. If you can not clear out the obstacle to exercising you will not be able to get the work that you need to done. Exercise will be left out.

3. Learn to make your own meals. It is very easy to call someone to deliver our meals today. People use this method because of their busy schedule. The food found at these restaurants is full of fat and calories that we do not need. Rather than eating at a restaurant, a person should try to prepare their food themselves. One solution is to cook meals ahead of time and reheat them when you are ready to eat.

4. Do not skip meals. If you do not eat, you will get hungry and when you do sit down to eat you will probably over indulge. This does not help lose weight. When you find yourself in a hurry try a nutritious energy bar to supplement your diet. Try to eat three meals combined with a few healthy snacks throughout the day. The healthy way to lose weight is by following this concept.

5. Ask a medical professional for advice. It is important to find out what is safe for you to do. Some medical conditions could be an obstacle that a person need to overcome first. It is in a person’s best interest to make sure that their body is prepared for whatever they are going to try to do and a doctor can recommend a plan that will include a healthy diet and exercise rather that some radical plan that shows you how to lose weight fast at home in a week that you found on the internet.

Make sure that you are truly dedicated to getting healthy. Make sure that it is something that you really want to do before you start it. Get friends and family to follow a plan along with you. Friends and family will pick a person up on the days when they do not want to keep going. And set some goals. Know what you want to accomplish. Once that is done, put in the work and get it done.
