You are not likely to come across a lot of articles about creatine and weight loss because the truth is complicated. This article will discuss how creatine can decrease the percentage of body fat you have, but it’s not going to cause weight loss. You will find this article helpful if it is your intention to decrease the percentage of body fat you have. If you simply want to lose weight, then this isn’t for you.
What Creatine Does
I will explain how creatine works without getting too technical. I could throw around a bunch of scientific terms, but most likely this will just cause you to “zone out”. So here it is in its most basic form. When you take creatine it makes the muscles bigger by increasing the fluid within each individual muscle cell. This is called sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. If you take creatine every day for 4 - 6 weeks, you can expect an average muscle growth of 5 - 10 pounds.
How Does Creatine Help You Lower Your Body Fat Percentage?
Body fat percentage is calculated by taking the amount of fat on your body in relation to how much you weigh. This means there are two ways to lower your body fat percentage - by losing body fat or by increasing your muscle mass. If you follow the prescribed program, you can shed 1 or even 2% of your body fat percentage before you head off for that beach vacation or return home for your high school reunion.
How Can Creatine Make Muscles More Defined in a Short Time Frame?
If you want to get more defined just prior to a special occasion, you should wait until 3 or 4 weeks before it to take creatine. Many users take creatine in the colder months to build muscle; however this method does not work well. A better way is to diet down while maintaining your muscle many months before your vacation. Use exercise and what you eat to drop as much weight as you can. The creatine will work best when you have dropped as low as possible and need an extra push. Begin taking 5 grams two times per day 3-4 weeks from your event. Don’t give up that diet just because you’re on the creatine. Your muscles will bulk up by 5 to 15 pounds, which will decrease the visibility of any body fat by quite a lot.
This Creatine Strategy Also Ensures “Shrink Wrapped” Skin
Using creatine a few weeks prior to your special event will also cause your skin to shrink around the stomach muscles. You see, loose skin blurs muscle definition especially around your abs. When you take creatine right before your vacation your entire body will fill in any loose skin and creates a skin tight effect. Basically, what this means is that creatine does not actually cause weight loss, but it does make you look like you have.
